This is an original plate from the Natural History of New York; Flora of the State of New York by John Torrey, M.D., F.L.S. The book was published in 1843 by D. Appleton & Co. and Wiley & Putnam of New York. This plate shows Liatris Spicata or Dense Blazing Star, Prairie Blazing Star or Button Snake Root.
This original illustrated antique print has been hand colored with museum quality watercolor in a palette accurately matching the true coloration of the flora depicted. The picture has been excellently preserved and is in near fine condition. Note: The reproduction print has been digitally 'cleaned up' and is shown above.
