This is an original plate from the Natural History of New York; Flora of the State of New York by John Torrey, M.D., F.L.S. The book was published in 1843 by D. Appleton & Co. and Wiley & Putnam of New York. This plate shows Trollius Laxus or American Globe Flower.
This original illustrated antique print has been hand colored with museum quality watercolor in a palette accurately matching the true coloration of the flora depicted. The picture has been excellently preserved and is in near fine condition. Note: The reproduction print has been digitally 'cleaned up' and is pictured above.
